Two students at a high school in Sydney's West have been taken to the hospital with third degree burns after an incident in the science lab. The accident happened shortly after 9:30a.m(AEDT) March 12 at Norwest Christian Colledge at Riverstone. The ambulance service says that the 15-year olds suffered burns to 18 and 12 per cent of their bodies. An ambulance spokesman says that the boy and the girl were burnt by methylated spirits that caught fire from a Bunsen Burner. The students received burns to their arms, backs, chests and faces and are in a serious condition in Westmead Children's Hospital. The fire brigade and workcover are investigating what happened.
